Denver Colorado in the 1970s was a booming metropolis known for its National Western Stock Show, Elitch Gardens Amusement Park and The World Famous Sid King’s Crazy Horse Bar. The Crazy Horse was considered the most popular strip joint west of the Mississippi. Celebrities, like Elvis Presley would stop by when they were in town, Clint Eastwood even filmed a scene from his movie, “Every Which Way But Loose” there. They all came to see not just the dancing ladies, but of it’s larger than life owner, Sid King, the “Sultan of Strip Tease.”

For over thirty years Sid, part showman, comedian and professor (he founded Sid King’s School of Burlesque and Navel Academy) ran the Crazy Horse. To Sid King, Strip Tease was not only fun, but also an art form and nothing to be ashamed of. It was a family business he was proud to own. His wife, Edna, even though raised as an Orthodox Jew, managed the club and his daughter, “Boom-Boom,” worked there.

Testimonials from people went to Sid’s show back in day

“Sid was a true showman. His schtick was delivered with such perfect timing you’d have thought he was Regis Philbin talking about a new restaurant on the upper east side.”
“We had many a great evening at the Crazy Horse…my condolences to any 18 year old male who has never had the chance.”
“I’ve come all this way to Denver from England and I’ve heard about Sid King and wanted see the ladies.”
